On June 7, 2024, a significant development took place with the publication of a Decree in the Official Gazette of the Federation. This marked a pivotal amendment to various sections of the Social Security Law, specifically focusing on the integration of digital tools.
As part of this reform, the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) now has the capability, facilitated by the IMSS Mailbox, to communicate any official act, requirement, or administrative decision through digital documentation. This enables the Institute to also share crucial information on matters of interest.
Individuals are now empowered to interact with the IMSS using digital methods, allowing them to submit petitions, requests, notifications, or fulfill their obligations and meet requirements using digital documents. Additionally, they can utilize these digital platforms to inquire about their tax and administrative status regarding the Institute.
This legislative update heralds a significant shift towards digitalization in the realm of social security administration in Mexico. Its aim is to streamline processes, enhance accessibility, and ensure efficient communication between the IMSS and the people it serves.
