Single Window for Trade

March 2012

In order to facilitate trade with its main trading partners and the rest of the world, as well as to establish a more competitive national economy to improve conditions for investment and job creation, the Mexican government enacted the formation of a Mexican Digital Window of Foreign Trade (Single Window for Trade), which purpose is to receive and take care of the procedures and services of such area.

In this sense, the Single Window for Trade ("SW") is the result of the efforts of different governmental offices that engage in Foreign Trade.

The establishment of the SW is designed to allow agents to conduct foreign trade through a one-stop and conduct all the formalities of import, export and transit of goods electronically.

The reception and forwarding of documents by the SW will be completed by means of scanning of documents.

The scan of documents is intended to achieve the dispatch of foreign trade goods without the physical movement of paper and to eliminate the documentary records and files of customs, import / export, custom brokers and agents.

Benefits of the SW:

  • Elimination of physical files.
  • Reduction of storage and maintenance costs.
  • Reduction of paper use.
  • Elimination of risk of document destruction.

The following activities may be conducted through the SW:

  • Carry out any procedure related to import, export and transit of goods of foreign trade.
  • Consult any information regarding procedures for the import, export and transit of goods of foreign trade.
  • Make electronic payments or contributions that correspond due to the completion of procedures for the importation, exportation and transit of goods of foreign trade. Payments will be automatically deducted from the user's bank account.

Requirements for the use of the SW:

  • Internet connection.
  • Federal Taxpayer Number (RFC).
  • Valid Electronic Signature (FIEL).
  • E-mail address.
  • Legal representative's CURP.

Dates for the use of SW:

  • The webpage www.ventanillaunica.gob.mx has been activated for registrations since last October 3, 2011.
  • The operation of the SW will be mandatory starting on June 1st, 2012, for all import/export processes in customs. As per the filing of procedures, they may be submitted either through the CW or personally at the corresponding governmental agency.

In summary, the Single Window for Trade expedites Mexico's trade operations by sharing information among the interconnected government agencies involved in trade and the customs facilities throughout the country..
